Sex in Recovery: From Enabling Use to Chemsex Addiction

Join us for our first ever online Sex in Recovery class! This is the first of a once-a-month series that will cover everything from Sexual Function to Relapse Prevention. Each month we will offer 1-1.5 hour group that will cover a different topic.

This month we are talking about the spectrum of enabling use which includes everything from that one drink to quell the first date jitters to active chemsex addiction and/or being unable to engage in sex at all without using. We will talk about what these connections mean for your recovery as well as a specific tool for starting to heal the effects of enabling use. Each group includes a self-reflection worksheet to use as a follow-along during the group or later, in your own time.

Every class will be facilitated by Liliah Ornelas, CSE. Liliah is an AASECT certified sex educator who has been working in the field of drug and alcohol treatment for over eight years and has 13 years sober herself. In her own recovery experience, and in watching a lot of people get sober, she noticed that all the things we can't say out loud, the things we can't share openly, are the things we suffer over and relapse over. As a sex educator, Liliah has chosen to specialize in Sex and Relationships in Recovery because these are the areas of life in which people feel the most compelled to hide themselves or keep secrets, and are therefore the areas in which people are the most vulnerable to relapse. Liliah believes that open dialogue and education are the first steps to relapse prevention and a healthy, happy sobriety.
